Dr.
Daniel D. Burch is an Approved Sponsor (#0015) for the Registry
of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. (RID) Certification Maintenance
Program (CMP) and Associate Continuing Education Tracking
Program (ACET). Continuing Education Units can be earned for
SLSI Sponsored Activities, Academic Coursework,
Independent Study, and/or Participant Initiated Non-RID Activities
(PINRAs).
SLSI
Initiated Activity: Workshops offered by SLSI. See What's
New.
Academic
Coursework: Participants gain Continuing Education Units
(CEUs) for courses taken. RID requires a minuimum of a "C"
in any course. Dr. Burch requires a "B". Participants
are encouraged to design coursework experience toward a degree.
Independent
Study: Participants engage in self-determined Independent
Study Activities. This may range from developing and presenting
a workshop to independent research on a topic of interest to the
individual and the field. Participants are strongly encouraged to
produce a written document that can be submitted for publication
in a professional newsletter or journal.
Participant
Initiated Non-RID Activity (Co-Sponsored Training): The
field of interpreting interfaces with a vast array of disciplines.
Workshops or training available may not be directly tied to interpreting,
but offer the interpreter valuable knowledge s/he can bring to the
job. Interpreters are urged to expand their horizons by taking training
through workshops or seminars from related fields.
