SLSI offers Sign Language classes to businesses and agencies that hire individuals who are deaf.  The result of this training has been increased inner-office communication, increased staff satisfaction, and increased upward mobility for Deaf employees. 

CustomMade course instruction is designed to be provided on-site, and is targeted toward the dayy to day communication needs of the business or agency. The goal is to increase communication between employees who are deaf and their co-workers and supervisors.

Classes are 15 hours in length, normally provided in one hour sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, or 1.5 hour sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Classses have been found to be most effective in the morning, and lasting for 5 weeks. Maximum class size is 14 individuals.

After one class, participants are able to engage in rudimentary social interchanges with colleagues who are deaf. After the second class, basic conversations can occur. After the third class, participants are ready to engage their colleagues in simple conversations and acquire further Sign Language ability through regular interaction.
